Training resilience, safely

Sweat mark on the floor saying CrossFit

At CrossFit Enforce, we don’t just train bodies—we train resilience. That’s why, when summer rolls around, you’ll find our big garage doors open wide. The light pours in, the fresh air flows, and yes—sometimes a leaf or an overly curious bird makes an appearance. But that open-air vibe? It’s intentional. It's part of the experience.

The warmer weather brings its own set of challenges, but also some powerful benefits. Training in the heat helps your body become more efficient at cooling itself, which improves overall temperature regulation. That means better performance not just in the heat, but in cooler conditions too.

You’ll also see cardiovascular improvements—your heart gets stronger, and your blood volume increases, improving endurance. And because your body works harder to cool itself down, you may even burn more calories.

That said, safety always comes first. When the Air Quality Index hits Code Red (per the EPA AirNow site) or the Heat Index climbs above 100°F (as reported by the NOAA station at Montgomery County Airport), we’ll close the doors and crank the AC. For our Legends and Enforce class, we take extra care: Code Orange air quality or a Heat Index over 80°F will trigger indoor climate control.

If you’re working out in the heat, take a few precautions:

  • Hydrate—before, during, and after class.
  • Dress smart—light, breathable fabrics help.
  • Know your limits—watch for signs of heat stress like dizziness, nausea, or excessive fatigue. Cool off with a damp towel, or consider using an ice vest if needed.

Bottom line: summer at CFE is sweaty, yes—but it’s also smart, safe, and part of building a stronger you.
